Westworld may be leaving HBO Max, but fans haven’t seen the last of the sci-fi western drama series. According to Entertainment Weekly, Westworld and several other removed HBO Max shows will soon find new homes on free, ad-supported streaming platforms known as FAST services. Westworld first aired in 2016, however, it was recently disclosed that the series, along with The Time Traveler’s Wife and Raised by Wolves, would be removed from the HBO Max streaming service as part of cost-cutting measures implemented by Warner Bros. Discovery following their merger earlier this year.

As per the report, the company recently announced that it is licensing Westworld and several other HBO Max original programs to third-party FAST services. This means that Westworld will be available as part of a packaged offering designed to broaden audiences for the series. Westworld will join other recently canceled shows such as The Nevers, Raised by Wolves, FBoy Island, Legendary, Finding Magic Mike, Head of the Class, and The Time Traveler’s Wife on this streaming site.

More TV shows, including Gordita Chronicles and Love Life, will be pulled from HBO Max in the coming days. As of now, no other platform has chosen to license the shows, but Warner Bros. Discover (WBD) remains hopeful that this will change soon. WBD said, “HBO Max is speaking with the studio partners about opportunities to further expand the reach of the shows, including but not limited to licensing the series to third party FAST platforms.”

Why HBO Canceled Westworld After Four Seasons

     HBO

Westworld had a tumultuous run on HBO that saw it start strong with tremendous ratings and exploding onto the pop culture landscape soon after. However, since its season 3 premiere, viewership has been steadily plummeting, and by the time the series finale came around in its fourth season, viewership had fallen further than ever before. Unfortunately, the series struggled to keep viewers engaged as its storylines became more confusing.

HBO issued a statement in response to the cancelation, and it reads, “Over the past four seasons, Lisa and Jonah have taken viewers on a mind-bending odyssey, raising the bar at every step. We are tremendously grateful to them, along with their immensely talented cast, producers and crew, and all of our partners at Kilter Films, Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television. It’s been a thrill to join them on this journey.”

Westworld officially came to an end this year, despite having made a grand entrance four years ago. It was then pulled off the HBO Max streaming service, but thanks to FAST services, you will be able to enjoy the series and other pulled series from HBO Max all in one place.
