Since the beginning of this season of The White Lotus, Mia’s motivations at the resort have changed. Beatrice Grannò, who plays Mia, spoke to Variety about her character motivations. Grannò said that as soon as she read the character description for the part, she knew she could do it. Not only could Grannò already play the piano and sing, but she knew she could play young and innocent. Working with director Mike White has assisted the actress in maintaining sweetness as a part of the charm that she uses to get what she wants.

Grannò expresses that while her character may make mistakes, it is not because she is malicious or plotting but because she is relentless in her quest to succeed.

At the start of the season, Mia and her friend Lucia arrive at The White Lotus with the intention of defrauding the guests. Shortly afterward, though, their attention shifts to opportunity and romance. Mia has navigated romantic interests, careers, and shifts in her friendships.

“Mia is very impulsive and a bit clumsy. When she wants to get something, she’ll do anything in her power to get it without thinking of the consequences. She doesn’t care about all the chaos she’s creating."

Mia becomes fascinated by the hotel’s piano bar and eventually finds herself performing there after accidentally drugging the piano player played by Federico Scribani. She also woos the hotel manager, Valentina, played by Sabrina Impacciatore, which helps her secure the gig, which may be hers if the piano player doesn’t return.

The White Lotus Will Wrap Up Season 2 Storylines on Sunday

     HBO

Grannò’s character’s storyline will continue into the season’s final episode on Sunday. Mia may be out of a job or a romance or be able to keep both. The fate of the characters in The White Lotus could wrap up in any number of ways. The rest of the cast members, including Jennifer Coolidge (Best in Show), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Meghann Fahy (The Bold Type), Michael Imperioli (The Scribbler), and more face similarly uncertain endings.

Characters are wooing, plotting, hooking up, leaving, overdosing, cheating, singing, and possibly dying. Of course, anything could happen in the final episode, but viewers will have to wait until Sunday to find out when the finale airs on HBO.

The White Lotus and HBO have already confirmed a third season is in the works.
