Whether television or a movie, fans need a Schitt’s Creek reunion. After the show’s astonishing critical success and quick resonation with viewers, even the creators know how special this series is to fans. From representation to relational healing, and from hope and persistence to acceptance, Schitt’s Creek infused viewers with a fresh sense of hilarity, optimism, determination, and celebration about life. The show promoted embracing and supporting loved ones and never giving up on new chances at life in heartwarming and unforgettable ways that audiences gleefully absorbed.
While the series has already concluded, creator Dan Levy has teased more Schitt’s Creek to come, whether in the form of a returning TV series or a movie. With Alexis (Annie Murphy) in New York City, Johnny (Eugene Levy) and Moira (Catherine O’Hara) in California, and David (Dan Levy) at the apothecary with Patrick (Noah Reid) and Stevie (Emily Hampshire), we could sure use an update on how everybody is doing with their new jobs, new marriages, and new starts.

Schitt’s Creek’s Stories Are Set Up for a Continuation
ITV Studios Global Entertainment
Can we ever get enough of Dan Levy as David Rose? Fans love Levy, his portrayal of David, and his showrunner and producer skills. It would be great to see more of his marriage with Patrick.
Another on-screen relationship difficult to say goodbye to was the relationship between Alexis and Ted. Once bored out of her mind by the wholesome and stable doctor, Alexis grew so much as a person that she eventually found in him a joyous and reliable partner, coming to appreciate him for the sweet and thoughtful human he is. This was something she could never have done as her former shallow and wealthy self, so it was charming to see her come so far.
Rightfully, Alexis follows this personal growth to a professional opportunity offered in New York City, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that she can’t reunite with Ted and rekindle her spark with him. This brings us to our main argument for the show’s continuation.
Fans Miss the Show’s Eccentric Yet Real Look at Relationships
The Rose family’s life is chaotic, and the loss of their fortune wreaked absolute havoc on their personal and codependent lives. Still, Johnny and Moira’s marriage stays as steady as a submarine twenty thousand leagues under the sea. Moira is eccentrically always on edge, while Johnny is a working stiff who’s just had some awful luck. But recent events and personality quirks seem to have no impact on their relationship. Fans found it refreshing to see a couple with issues far from perfect but who love each other unwaveringly through every fight and crisis.
Most shows would capitalize on Moira’s insecurity as an actress and her over-reliance on money by making her resent her husband, blame him, and want to leave him. Schitt’s Creek doesn’t waste time on such offensive stereotypes. Moira embraces and loves who she is, eventually reviving her career, and never leaves Johnny’s side. They’re together through thick and thin, and it is so exemplary and refreshing to see a matriarchal figure in television who is representative of real women and not more common damaging stereotypes reminiscent of 1950s American television.
Johnny, meanwhile, might as well join the ranks of Gomez Addams. During some of Moira’s hilarious but serious bouts with insecurity and trauma-induced spiraling and episodes, after Googling herself or reflecting on her fizzled acting career, for example, Johnny doesn’t judge her. The show doesn’t fixate on plot points involving the husband turning on his wife simply because she needs some compassion and understanding once in a while, as many shows and films do. Johnny is a faithful and loving husband even in the face of nonstop adversity and constant family drama.
The patriarch and matriarch of Schitt’s Creek, in their own dramatic and hilarious way, see the family through by keeping their marriage as strong as ever, spurring hope and admiration in the power of commitment in the show’s diehard viewers.
What Is to Come From Dan Levy’s New Production Company?
A show this socially and culturally significant can’t be over so soon. Creator Dan Levy seems aware of this, particularly after the series’ sweeping success at the Emmys in 2021. Levy himself has just launched his own production company and is gearing up to bring us more new, hopefully old, content. The show’s creator Dan Levy has told audiences to feel free to get their hopes up.
The Rose family seems to be on pause rather than permanently out of the spotlight while the cast and crew pursue other projects. Fans ardently hope that Levy gets this show on the road again while also developing new projects that are important to the creator.
